EMERGING INDIAN FASHION DESIGNERS YOU SHOULD KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR
Indian
fashion has been on the radar for generations now, and we’ve all witnessed the
fashion scenario here evolving, growing and getting better by the season.
Ethnic or traditional Indian fashion designers are one aspect we as
Indians are all aware of. But for the past few years, contemporary Indian
fashion with an edge has been winning our hearts and taking over the streets
and runways, settling in the hearts of youngsters and millennials alike.
Here we
have a list of emerging Indian fashion designers who’ve been ruling the
world with their silhouettes and style:
- Notebook: Fashion Designer Niharika Gupta
incepted Notebook Studio just a year back in a bid to reimagine men’s
workwear styles from the 19th
century for the modern-day woman. Elements like pinstripe suiting
material, wide lapels, double-pleated trousers and polo T-shirts are most
commonly seen in her collections.
- Esse by Sahib & Sunayana: NIFT graduates and fashion
designers Sahib Dang and Sunayana Sahni launched Esse back in 2017.
Their very first collection had power suits and blazers with exaggerated
shoulders offset by overtly feminine embellished pants along with their
trademarked waist-cinching belt.
- Ode to Odd: Ode to Odd was launched in 2017 by fashion
designers Ranchi-based sister duo Shreya Mewara and Priyal Mewara.
Their first collection featured sharply tailored pantsuits and jumpsuits,
and colourful surface embroidery on soft fabrics were featured in their
latest line.
- Raffughar: Fashion designer Wajahat Rather has
always had an artistic streak, starting out with calligraphy and slowly
moving on to clothing design. The brand Raffughar inculcated the
first-ever understanding of a garment which came from the pheran, a
traditional cloak, and Wajahat’s love affair with Kashmir has been evident
in every collection he created.
- Studio Rigu:
Delhi based fashion designer Riya Gupta is revamping the idea of
suiting through her label, Studio Rigu. Cropped blazers with miniskirts,
flared pants under an oversized blazer or a structured jacket paired with
an embellished tulle skirt are some of the elements and silhouettes you’ll
see in her collections.
Indianfashion designers have been coming up with latest trends in
fashion almost every other season and are redefining our dressing sense with
every purchase we make. I Knock Fashion will keep you updated and tell you more
about the emerging Indian designers and their contemporary silhouettes that are
taking on the fashion stage one garment at a time.
